FAKE AGENT CALLS
The Board Staff has received several phone calls from multiple licensees stating that someone is calling pretending to be an agent of the Medical Board and trying to obtain personal information. These calls are scams. Information regarding your licensure number, issue date, expiration date, and address of record is available on the Board’s website. Your NPI number is also available on the Internet. The Board would not contact you by phone to obtain your personal information. We would contact you to set up a time that you can contact us and give you a valid call back number or schedule an in-person meeting.
The Board is located in Atlanta, GA and all phone numbers from the Board will have Atlanta area codes. (404, 470, 678 or 770) *Update* The Board has received new information that its main phone number is being spoofed. If you feel you have received this type of call, please ask for information to call the person back.
If you need any further information or to provide details of a call you received; please contact Jonathan McGehee, Director of Investigations at email@example.com.
Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Title 43, Chapters 34 and 34A (O.C.G.A. §§43-34 and 34A) is the statutory authority (law) that establishes the Georgia Composite Medical Board, the Medical Practice Act, and the Patient Right to Know Act (Physician Profile). The official Administrative Rules are published separately from the law and further clarify the regulations form the OCGA and are specific to the professions licensed by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. You may access the Board Rules by clicking here.
[Please note: Board Rules are currently being re-written to comply with changes to the Medical Practice Act that were passed by the Georgia General Assembly during the most recent legislative session and will be updated on the website as changes to the rules are passed.]
