Valid Prescribing Rules for PAs & APRNs

It has come to the attention of the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy that some Physician Assistants and APRN's have been writing prescriptions for patients that fall into two categories:

(1) for scheduled drugs they are not authorized by law to write or
(2) on a prescription form that lacks the information required by law.

When pharmacists receive these prescriptions, they are not allowed to legally fill them. Please find below the rules regarding valid prescription writing specific to both professions.
