The Georgia Composite Medical Board voted during its March 2016 meeting last week to appoint Bob Jeffery, MBA, as the new executive director.
“The Board appreciates Bob’s willingness to take on this new challenge,” said Alice House, MD, the Board’s chairperson. “He brings an exciting vision for the Board's future and a wealth of institutional knowledge that will allow him to confidently and effectively lead the Board in fulfilling its mission. We are excited to continue working with him.”
Jeffery previously served as the Board’s director of operations for 11 years before stepping into the interim executive director role in January. He has worked for the state of Georgia in various capactities for over 20 years.
“I'm excited to have the opportunity to help take the Board to even greater heights,” Jeffery said. “With the Board’s help, and with the help of the outstanding team we’ve built here, Georgia will continue to be a national leader among state medical boards.”
Jeffery succeeds LaSharn Hughes, MBA, who served as the Board’s executive director for 12 years before retiring at the end of 2015.
