Dr. Antalis to lead Board into 2017, Dr. DeLoach to serve as vice chair

The Georgia Composite Medical Board voted yesterday during its June meeting to elect John S. Antalis, M.D., as its new chairperson through May 2017.

“I am truly humbled my colleagues have blessed me with the opportunity to lead this board,” Dr. Antalis said. “We are looking forward to building on the successes of the past year and taking this board to new heights.”

Dr. Antalis has been a practicing physician at Dalton Family Practice for almost 30 years. He is past-president of the Medical Association of Georgia and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. He was named Physician of the Year in 1996 and received the Joseph P. Bailey Distinguished Science award for Medical Services in 2013. He serves on the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) Foundation, MAG Mutual Board, MAG Board and the Patient Safety Institute Board. Dr. Antalis earned a medical degree from St. George's University. He and his wife, Cathy, have three adult children and reside in Dalton.

The Board also voted E. Daniel DeLoach, M.D., to serve as its vice chairperson. Dr. DeLoach is a board certified plastic surgeon practicing in Savannah. He is the past-president of the Medical Association of Georgia and currently serves on the board for MAG Mutual Insurance Company. He also serves on the board of the Chatham County Hospital Authority and is a clinical professor in the department of surgery at both the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah. Dr. DeLoach is a graduate of Valdosta State University and earned a medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. He and his wife, Cameron, have three children and reside in Savannah.
