Georgia Department of Community Health

Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) was created by Governor Roy E. Barnes, Jr., and the Georgia General Assembly in 1999. The department is responsible for: insuring 2 million Georgians (25% of Georgia's population); to maximize the state's health care purchasing power; planning for insuring 1.3 million uninsured Georgia citizens; and, coordinating health care planning for state agencies. DCH is the agency to which the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners is administratively attached.
